Special Event... Hardly!

February 28th, 2006

Well, todays "Special Event" is now over and I have to say it's not really turned to be as big a deal as some people were expecting. I think when you read what they actually announced you'll agree that whilst these some of these updates were needed they didn't really warrant the sort of "hype" that's been generated. To summarize the following products were announced:

- iPod Leather cases
- Updated Mac Mini line (dual core cpu's, front row etc etc)
- Updated front row to allow streaming of media through bonjour (for all front row capable macs)
- Some sort of iPod Hi-Fi speaker setup

I have to say there are some great new improvements to the mini and I'm probably going to think about buying the cheaper model for my living room later this year. However the dual core model is a tad pricey and is nearly as expensive as an iMac which might put off a few buyers although it's very much dependent on the form factor you want.

As for the leather cases, other companies have been putting out cases for iPods for what seems like forever so if they sell well at all it will purely be because they're "made by apple".

Well... roll on April I guess!!
