Javascript Performance Rocks!

January 22, 2009

Javascript Performance Rocks hit beta today and I was ready and waiting to download my copy. Written by the well known Thomas Fuchs and Amy Hoy, it’s a very well presented book that contains a wealth of information to help speed up not just your javascript but your entire web application.

It covers how to set up your web server to set the correct cache headers, a special iPhone tips section, some javascript best practices and a multitude of other tips and tweaks (some simple, some more advanced) to achieve the best performance possible.

You also get a rather handy tool, DOM Monster, to analyse pages and give suggestions based on the best practices set out in the book.

Definitely worth $19, especially for me since javascript is definitely not something I’ve mastered yet.
