IMAP Path Prefix
February 04, 2007
Well… after yesterdays post I feel like a bit of a klutz! After writing about Correo and mentioning my IMAP problems with Mail I decided, since it had been a good few months, I would revisit the problem with fresh eyes.
Lo and behold after 20 minutes of playing with my Mail settings it magically started working!
The secret? The IMAP Path Prefix option (see it’s location here). When my email was in mbox format Mail seemed to figure it out on it’s own, however changing to maildir format caused the folders to change names and so the IMAP Path Prefix needs to be specified.
So… anyone else having this problem, where your sent/received (etc.) folders aren’t write-able and are listed as sub-folders of your inbox simply change your IMAP Path Prefix to “INBOX” (without the quotes) if that doesn’t work then try it in lower case.
I’m a happy man now…
