Chocolate Brownies
December 18th, 2006
Another recipe here, this time for chocolate brownies. They’re very easy to make and they taste delicious (of course they do, it’s chocolate), especially with the added crunch from the walnuts (you can leave those out if you’re allergic of course).
A little note also that I’ll be writing about something other than cooking very soon. I’ve a tutorial on how to generate a category cloud using XSLT and some thoughts on the recently released Photoshop CS3 beta.
Now…let us make brownies…
Ingredients
- 50g (2oz) plain chocolate
- 75g (3oz) margarine
- 2 eggs
- 125g (5oz) castor sugar
- 100g (4oz) self-raising flour
- Pinch of salt
- 50g (2oz) chopped walnuts
Method
- Melt the chocolate and margarine in a bowl stood over hot water, stir gently into a smooth brown liquid.
- Beat the eggs and the sugar into the melted margarine and chocolate.
- Mix in the flour, salt and nuts. Be sure to combine thoroughly.
- Spread the mixture in a well greased 20cm square tin (round ones work just as well). Then bake in moderate oven, 180C/ 350F/ Gas mark 4, for 30 minutes or until the top has a crust.
- Turn out of the tin whilst warm, cut up and enjoy!
I like to eat these with a warm mug of hot chocolate (melted chocolate, sugar and warm milk) in front of the tele on the cold winter nights.
